Surviving the quarantine with the Proaction Lab: Psychological Animes

Who doesn’t remember the classic Dragon Ball? Perhaps, you are more into contemporary dramas, like Death Note? No matter if you used to watch anime when you were younger, or you kept this addiction into adulthood, the truth is, animes are here to stay. The success of this type of cartoon is undeniable, and for that reason we got you covered with these two suggestions.

The first suggestion is Psycho-Pass, a cleaver, mature and tough sci-fi anime series, that explores themes like mind-reading and free will. From the creator of Madoka Magica, and the Production I.G. studio, that produced Ghost in the Shell, this story incorporates philosophy with action and crime. Setting in the future, the show follows a society with the Sibyl System enforcement. This system is a network of powerful scanners, that use cymatic scans of the human brain, to determine the threat level of each citizen. They investigating their mental state, looking for Psycho-Pass, which is their criminal intent. In this world, there is also a possible “cure” to treat the mental state of such individuals. If their minds are considerate “irrecoverable”, they could suffer prison or death, even without committing any crime. 22 episodes were released with around 23 minutes each.

Ghost Hound is also created by Production I.G and the Ghost in the shell director, Masamune Shirow. The anime with 22 episodes, explores the supernatural while involving the psychological stories of three teenagers. In the small town of Suiten, odd events take place that mix reality with the paranormal. A daughter of a priest begins to have strange visions, there is a murder that goes unpunished and there is an enigmatic suicide. Tarou Komori has unsettling dreams, because of his unresolved traumas caused by being kidnapped 11 years ago with his sister, that unfortunately didn’t survived. The three affected teenagers join forces to solve the enigmas, by entering the spirit realm, the “Unseen World”.

If a good psychological anime is what you are looking for, you have these two to watch.
