During this epidemic, you may be lacking some entertainment to make you forget for a moment the situation we are living in. Some people finally have the time to read all those books they bought on sale or the TV show a friend has recommended. But today we will suggest something different: podcasts! Podcasts are a great way to spend time while listening to a good story. Unlike television or books, podcasts can be listened to while performing other tasks. Cooking dinner? Podcast! Cleaning the house? Podcast! Going shopping protected and maintaining social distance? Podcast! You get the gist.
The first suggestion is in Portuguese and is probably the most successful science podcast in Portugal. 90 Segundos de Ciência has Antena 1 radio station as a partner, and the episodes play twice a day on air. You have also access to all the 835 episodes from their website but, to be fair, you can probably listen to a bunch of them at once (if you didn't get it yet, each episode is about 90 seconds long). There are new science stories every day and we will obviously suggest the ones about the brain. What about you, who don't speak Portuguese? Hang in there. We have something for you too!
Brain Science is a podcast hosted by Dr Ginger Campbell where she shares recent discoveries in the neuroscience world. In English, yes! Currently, there are 170 one-hour-ish episodes. On the podcast website, you can find the list of all the episodes released so far. The episode categories are diverse (within neuroscience) and go from vision and brain imaging (our favourites!) to autism, neurotransmitters and language. If you subscribe to the premium plan, you have access to the episode transcripts or ad-free episodes.
